🔍 Project Background
In the Emirates, scent plays a powerful cultural role. From oud wood and saffron to desert flowers, scent evokes memory and identity. Recognizing this, Scents of Abu Dhabi engaged 2TInteractive to build a content-rich digital experience celebrating the UAE’s botanical roots, scent traditions, and environmental values.
Our challenge was to translate intangible scents into rich visual and textual storytelling, making users experience it through the screen—rightly capturing local heritage for an international audience.
🎯 What We Delivered
1. Immersive Narrative Microsite
We designed a mobile-first storytelling platform featuring plant profiles, scent histories, and visual journey flows. Each section is crafted to draw users into the story of a scent—its origin, cultural meaning, and role in Emirati life.
2. Botanical & Cultural Content
From marsh flower habitats to oud harvesting, the microsite explores UAE biodiversity and traditions. The content is rooted in regional knowledge and curated research, reflecting sustainability and cultural respect.
3. Multisensory Content Design
While scent is invisible, we used high-res imagery, carefully paced animations, and text rhythms to evoke memory and emotion—taking cues from multisensory experience research showing smell’s powerful link to memory.
4. Local Heritage Emphasis
Highlighting Emirati culture meant weaving stories of local flora, religious uses of fragrance, and artisanal traditions. The site took users on a heritage journey—showing why scent matters in mosque visits, family gatherings, and desert rituals.
5. Performance & UX
We built a fast-loading, visually rich site optimized for mobile and high traffic. Lightweight animations and accessible performance ensured smooth storytelling across networks in the region.
